Introduction
Even though it’s fairly easy for us to travel anywhere we want by airplanes, there are still some countries no one ever heard of, like Kiribati, the heaven that will drown in the next decades, East Timor that’s the only Portuguese speaking country in Asia, or even Djibouti, the weirdest African nation!
In this post, we’ll talk about a country, unknown to everyone, even those who live in nearby countries, São Tomé and Príncipe!
Let’s learn about São Tomé and Príncipe, briefly in this post!

Geography of São Tomé and Príncipe
This country is made up of two major islands, São Tomé which is the major one that has the capital in it and Príncipe which is the smaller one.
São Tomé and Príncipe has an equatorial climate, hot and humid. It is a country with a multiplicity of microclimates, defined mainly in terms of rainfall, temperature, and location.

History of SÃO TOMÉ AND PRÍNCIPE
There is no record of human on the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe before 1470, and the historical marks give the Portuguese João de Santarém and Pêro Escobar the title of discoverers of the Islands. Portuguese navigators explored the islands and were like, “It’s a cool place to use both for military and agriculture!” Then they brought African slaves to the islands to plant cocoa and sugarcane.

São Tomé and Príncipe gained its independence from Portugal on July 12, 1975. This country has always been one of the most stable and democratic countries in Africa.
People in São Tomé and Príncipe
Santomeans are mostly descendants of the African slaves who were brought to the islands. They speak Portuguese as their official language and three other local languages that are sort of local dialects of Portuguese!

I had heard of Principe. And we have some families in our town in Northern England from East Timor. Your posts are always so interesting.
Glad to hear that! You seem to be an educated person since not a lot of people have heard or Principe or East Timor!
Great to have you here! Thank you for your comment!
So interesting. And you’re right, I haven’t heard of such a place until now.
That’s right. Even people from other African countries aren’t familiar with Sao Tome and Principe!
