Recent history of Moldova
In recent history, Moldova was one of the USSR states with a heavily influenced Russian culture until it declared as an independent nation on August 27, 1991. We discussed more about it in the series of posts about former USSR states.
Soon after independence thou, two parts of the country decided to go on a different rail called Transnistria & Gagauzia.
In Transnistria, they established a whole new country in the Russian style since most of their citizens are Russian. They even have a cold border with Moldova where people’s passport gets checked!
People in Moldova
Moldovan people are technically Romanians who were raised with a different Ideology. They speak the same language and have the same traditions. They love to drink wine and each house has wine storage in it! People are relaxed and whenever there’s a problem, they ignore it and chill by drinking wine!

What to do in Moldova
Mileștii Mici Winery in Moldova
With more than 200 km of storage, Mileștii Mici Winery in Moldova is the world’s largest winery. It’s highly recommended to visit this massive wine paradise!

Rose Valley in Moldova
This massive park is in the capital, Chișinău. There’s a beautiful lake in it, as well as refreshing narrow walking roads. The park is also home to the remaining of an ancient Slavonic sanctuary.
The Triumphal arch and Nativity Cathedral in Moldova
These two monuments are made in honor of the soldiers who fought against the Ottoman empire in the 18th century.

Căpriana monastery in Moldova
Moldova is the country of monasteries. Where ever you turn your head, there’s an incredible historic church. Căpriana monastery was built in 1429 and still thriving today.
