The US is one of the most depressed countries in the world, according to the World Health Organization.
In this post, we’ll talk about the top 10 Most Depressed Countries in the world in 2020.
Our world is more depressed not than ever in history. A lot of people are not satisfied with their life in some ways, but if the unsatisfactory and failure feeling gets too much in a person, it would cause a recognized disease called depression.
Depression rates are rising in countries around the world each year which has several reasons.
First of all, since depression was always considered a taboo that barely anyone could talk about, but as the time goes on, this taboo is fading away and more people openly talk about it and even seek professional help (However, Depression is still a taboo in many societies including modern western ones!)
The second reason is that with the rise of social media (especially Instagram) around the world, people tend to compare themselves with countless other people who showcase their success, happiness, and luxury lifestyle. Even though using social media could be beneficial in some ways, most of the time it ends up to severe depression, especially among the younger generation.
Finally, the third reason for the rising number of depression rate is that science is constantly improving, so are the doctors who can identify depression easier compared to any other time in mankind’s history.
Let’s get back to the topic and the most depressed country in the world 2020.

Let God Bless Everyone 😇
Amen! 🙏🏼😊
Unravelling! Population growth correlates with depression rates up until the seventh I think.
That’s exactly right!
Thanks for your comment Emmanuel! 😊
You’re welcome!!!
Not being a crack statistical whiz just eyeballing the list, seems like the bigger the country, population wise, the higher the probability of being depressed. I could be wrong but there seems to be a direct correlation.
You’re actually right!
I didn’t notice that myself tho! Lol!
Thank you for your comment!
Unfortunately, technology has destroyed social life. Therefore, it left an impact on the overalls satisfaction for many people, in my opinion. Great post, thanks for sharing it! 👍
You’re right!
Thank you for your comment! 😊
Interesting how these are mostly the countries with the highest populations too…
You’re right! I didn’t notice that!
I live in the U.S. and seeing the violence in the streets, hearing about new murders and crimes every single day, the political division, and now we have Covid changing the landscape… these are really depressing times indeed. But to read about the depression in other countries saddens me even more. In all the technological advances we have made, man has become more unhappy. It just shows that I can’t escape the unhappiness I see here. It’s everywhere. This was a very informative read, and enlightening.
What a wise opinion! You’re absolutely right! 😊
Interesting list. Thanks for posting this.
My pleasure!
Thank you for your comment! 😊
God save us
Amen!
Not France ? I thought we were good on this point …
I’m not surprised by the countries on the list. I think you can factor political situations into depression rates
Exactly! Political situation is probably the most important factor in it!
Thank you for your comment! 😊
You’re welcome! It’s also a classic thing that Russian stories don’t have happy endings
I feel so much better after this reading, I’m not in the wrong place 🙂
Perfect! Glad to hear that! 😊
