Top 10 reasons to visit Italy

When asking those who’d been to Italy, about their trip, you see a satisfying smile on their faces before even answering which is the best answer itself! Everyone falls in love with this charming Mediterranean country. In this post, we’ll check out the top 10 reasons why you should visit Italy at least once in your lifetime!

1- It’s not that expensive

European countries aren’t cheap to visit in general, but Italy could be an affordable destination if you act wisely, like avoid traveling during peak season and to buy food from local places rather than touristic areas.

2- Finest wines in the world

Italy is the largest wine producer country in the world which only means they know what they’re doing from centuries ago since this kind of title cannot be gained overnight! Once you drink wine in Italy, you can never help yourself but to buy from the Italian selection of your local liquor store back home!

3- Italian food and coffee

I mean, the whole world knows how good Italians are at spaghetti, pizza, and coffee. I’ve never seen anyone saying they’ve eaten better food or drank a better coffee than what they had in Italy! (Sorry France!)

Fun fact: Starbucks cups names are all Italian! Grande is Italian for ‘large,’ venti means ‘twenty,’ and Trenta is ‘thirty’.

4- Italian Islands

Capri, Ischia, Stromboli, and Elba are only the most famous ones! Italian Islands are always warm, with the most perfect sand and water (some regions have to protect their islands’ sands against thieves).

4- Italian Art

Michelangelo, Sandro Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci are just a few of them! Italian art has always been an inspiration for artists around the world. Italian fashion, architecture, and painting are constantly thriving throughout history.

5- Italian UNESCO world heritage sites

From the Historic centers of Florence, Naples, Rome, to the Roman Forums to the beautiful villages of Cinque Terre, Italy has 55 UNESCO world heritage sites, more than any other country in the world!

6- Mountains and lakes

Italian Lakes and mountains are so surreal that you cannot believe your eyes!

7- Italian Villages

Italian villages like Marzamemi, Stilo, and Manarola are worth a visit as much as Rome, Venice, and Florence. Ready to meet the most humble people with the most beautiful hearts?

8- Roman ruins

Roman Empire is one of the most powerful empires in mankind’s history which impacted a lot of other countries’ destinies! You can still feel Roman’s power and mightiness when visiting its ruins.

9- San Marino and the Vatican City

San Marino and Vatican City are two independent countries, completely surrounded by Italy. How cool is it to visit three countries in one short trip?!

10- Italian Legendary cities

Italian cities like Rome, Milan, Venice, Genoa, Naples, Florence, Cagliari, Palermo, Livorno, and Sienna are full of rich cultural heritage and character. Which one is your favorite?

  1. Lovely post! I visited Italy with a friend years ago, and ended up moving there. That’s how much I loved it 🙂

          1. My pleasure! If you have time, go check my new food blog, where I will post some yummy Italian dishes 😉

  2. I’m 1/8 Italian on my mom’s side. My mom’s cousin apparently once started planning a trip to the part of Italy where we came from (I don’t remember if they ever actually went), and the travel guide they were reading said something like “Be sure to stay in the tourist towns on the coast, because the inland is ruled by a crime family…” :O

  3. A beautiful country. I had travelled right across it way back in 1955 with my mother. The trip was all the more memorable as I met a person in Naples who would be my lifelong friend and who saw FOUR GENERATIONS of my family!
