  1. Where I live, French is seen as such an unimportant language. I’m going to be pointing to this article from now on if they question me learning French 🙂

  2. I’m surprised Geneva, Switzerland didn’t make the cut, considering it’s a UN city and French is an official UN language. What’s weird about Switzerland though is that the French, German and Italian Swiss are very territorial. Whenever I tell someone Swiss I was born in the French part, and they aren’t from that part, they will remind me which part of Switzerland they’re from. It makes me a little salty. Anyway, I love learning how French dialects differ. I can’t stand the way the French say “soixante-dix” or “quatre-vingt-dix”! For me, since I was born in Switzerland, I can get away with saying, “septante”, “octante”, etc. Always done that, except when I have done French class where I’ve had to learn the French way. I’m interested to learn the Canadian French dialect though
