Fiji, the ideal honeymoon destination, Explained

Introduction

The word Fiji is known to everyone. Australians and New Zealand people are familiar with the country as it is close to them but for most of us in North America and Europe, Fiji is just a beautiful water bottle! (Yes! That’s why this word sounds familiar!).

Despite its past, Fiji is all about relaxation and having fun now! You’ll get surprised to read about their history for sure!

Recent History of Fiji

Fiji’s previous name was “Cannibal Island” as people who lived there, used to eat their enemies! The fun part (what kind of psychopathic person finds fun in Cannibalism?) is that unlike other parts of the world, no one denies cannibalism history inside Fiji! There are reminders everywhere and rules to prohibit it from happening again!

Fiji was colonized by the UK and became independent again in 1970!

People in Fiji

Although Fiji is a small island country, thanks to their colonizer (!) the country is diverse with half of the population identifying as Fijian, a large minority of Indians who were brought to the island by British Army to work and live there and also small communities of whites and Asians!

If you ever decide to visit their villages, DO NOT touch their heads as it’s worse than showing them your middle finger!

Everyone on the islands speaks English, so there’s no problem with communicating!

  1. Fiji is also where the TV show Survivor has been filmed since 2016 (the US version, at least). They used to move around to different locations all around the world, then they started staying in the same place for two or three games in a row, then they just stayed in Fiji because the location where they are now works perfectly for their game and it’s less expensive to stay in one place.

      1. The current season is being played with all people who have won before; they did something special for the 20th anniversary. I’ve been watching almost since the beginning. I always liked game shows as a kid during the heyday of game shows in the 1980s, and Survivor is basically a glorified game show.

          1. I have a few friends who have tried out to be on the show, but neither of them got on. I thought about it back in the early days of the show, but I’m not in good enough shape physically./

            1. Fair point. 🙂 Trivia games are more my thing than physical games. I’ve tried out for Jeopardy! a few times, and once I got called to an in-person audition but didn’t get on the show. I’ll keep trying when I can.
