According to many reliable international indexes, Central African Republic is the poorest country in the world, for most people, getting information about this country stops right there with that fact but I’m asking all of you to pass the surface in this post with me, shall we?

By looking at the map, we can kind of approve their claim by being in the center of Africa. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.

Recent History of Central African Republic

In recent history, they were colonized by France and became independent in 1960. France continued supporting them though.

Everything was going smooth, until a political group, raised against the President and it continued for a few years. Eventually, a group of rebellions formed an independent country in the north, called”The Republic of Logone” which is partially recognized so far.

The history of this country is so complicated and yet, interesting. If you’d like to know more, there’s a great book called Hunting Game: Raiding Politics in the Central African Republic (The International African Library). You can read it in Amazon by clicking on its’ picture below.

People in Central African Republic

%80 of them are Christian and the rest are mostly Muslim.

There’s a tribe living there called AKA Pygmy. They are almost the shortest people in the world and live far away from civilization in the jungles. If you’d like to meet them, you have to ride up to a point and then walk inside the jungle for a few kilometers. Most of them have never left their village and don’t even want to.
