Recent History of Botswana

In recent history, Botswana was colonized by the United Kingdom at the same time with South Africa. After a few years, they became independent and started going towards democracy step by step and now it’s kind of like Norway of Africa.

No one in the government steals and all of the money they gain gets invested inside the country instead of getting stolen and to make it even better, their presidents don’t have to run away from Botswana after getting retired (Like most other African nations have to, due to their bad infamous reputation among people).

People in Botswana

Most people are of African descendants from the Tswana tribe (The country’s name comes from them Bu-Tswana) and other tribes. There’s also a small population of White people, remaining in the country after even after the British occupation and some others have fled from Zimbabwe to Botswana (because of discrimination against whites by the government).

Their main language is Setswana and because of being under Britain’s control for a while, most of them can communicate in English as well.

People in Botswana have high IQ but the economy and universities aren’t still big enough to have them all educated and working.

Botswana is so cool that it can give you the feelings of a developing nation and satisfy your thoughts about African nature and safaris! Isn’t it cool to get amazed both by nature and urban life they have to offer?

When you go there, don’t forget to visit the Three Dikgosi Monument, the statues of their three main man who helped the country’s independence process.

Okavango Delta in Botswana

When water floats into this delta, it expands to almost triple its usual size but the water doesn’t go anywhere else. Most of it evaporates or goes underground.

This delta would amaze you by the view and animals which live in its area.

UNESCO added it to the World Heritage List.

Chobe National Park in Botswana

Chobe is Botswana’s first national park. There are a lot of different animals living in it like Zebras, Elephants, birds and even lions.

They rely on the Chobe River as their water source, especially during the dry season.
